AirPods battery, the moment they connect
macOS shows AirPods battery if you open the Bluetooth menu and hover. Hushtop shows it where you’re already looking, the second they connect: left, right, and the case.

What you get
- On connect: a short moment in the notch with each bud and the case, then it tucks away.
- Any time: hover the notch and the outputs panel lists your AirPods with their levels, next to the other outputs you can switch to.
- Safer volume: when AirPods disconnect, the Mac’s speakers drop to 25% so a podcast doesn’t blast the room.
- The volume HUD: a calmer replacement for the system one, in the notch, with the output’s name.
What it isn’t
It isn’t a replacement for AirBuddy if you want battery for every Apple device you own and a menu bar readout. Hushtop’s AirPods piece is one part of a notch app that also does music with lyrics, meetings, a file shelf, clipboard history and your coding agents. If AirPods are the only thing you care about, a dedicated app is the better buy.
