No notch? It floats.
On a display without a notch, Hushtop draws a small island at the top of the screen. Music, meetings, AirPods, the shelf, your agents and the pet all work the same.

What the island is
A small black shape at the top of the screen, where the notch would be. Hover or click and it opens the same panels a notched MacBook gets. When nothing is happening it stays small; when a song starts or an agent needs you, it grows for a moment and settles back.
Where you get it
- MacBook Air M1 and the 13-inch MacBook Pro M1 and M2, which have no notch.
- iMac, Mac mini and Mac Studio, on whatever display they drive.
- An external monitor on any MacBook, with a switch in Settings if you’d rather not have it there.
What changes
Nothing in the features. Music with synced lyrics, the next meeting, AirPods battery, the file shelf, clipboard history, Mac vitals, your Claude Code and Codex sessions and the pet all work the same. The only difference is that the island draws its own shape instead of borrowing the camera’s.
Compared with other notch apps
Most notch apps now draw something on a notch-less display too; NotchNook and Alcove both do. The difference is in what sits inside. The longer comparison is at notch apps for Mac.
