Your license

In short
A Hushtop license is a one-time purchase for one Mac, with every update included. Your key arrives by email; paste it in Settings › License to activate. To move to a new Mac, deactivate the old one first, and if you lose your key, we can email it again.

Buy a license#

Click Buy in Settings › License, or buy from the pricing page. Checkout opens in your browser and is handled by Paddle; your card details never touch Hushtop.

Your license key arrives by email from [email protected]. The page you land on after checkout also shows it for a short while. A key looks like HSH-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX.

Activate Hushtop#

The quickest way is the link in your purchase email:

  1. Click the activation link in the email. Hushtop opens with your key filled in.
  2. Click Activate.

Or enter the key yourself:

  1. Copy the key from the email.
  2. Open Settings › License. If Hushtop finds the key on your clipboard, click Use Key. Otherwise paste it into the License key field.
  3. Click Activate.

The status changes to Licensed. Activating needs an internet connection once; after that Hushtop works offline.

If activation fails, Hushtop says why next to the field:

  • That key wasn’t found: check it against your purchase email, or paste it again.
  • This key is active on another Mac: deactivate it on that Mac first (see below).
  • Couldn’t reach the license server: check your connection and try again.

Working offline#

Hushtop checks your license at launch and once a day. If it can’t reach the license server for a long time, Settings › License shows Licensed · offline and how many days you have to connect. Everything keeps working until then.

If that time runs out, or your Mac’s clock changed, Hushtop pauses most tools until it can check once. Connect to the internet, then click Check Now in Settings › License.

Checking sends only your license key and an anonymous Mac ID, never your name, files or usage.

Move to a new Mac#

One license works on one Mac at a time. Moving it is free.

  1. On the old Mac, open Settings › License and click Deactivate This Mac…, then Deactivate.
  2. Install Hushtop on the new Mac.
  3. Enter the same key in Settings › License and click Activate.

The old Mac goes back to its trial, or to Hushtop Lite if the trial is over. A license can move up to 5 times in 30 days.

Old Mac lost or won’t start? Managing your Macs from the website is coming soon. Until then, email [email protected] from the address you bought with and include your license key.

Lost your key#

Go to Restore purchase and enter the email you bought Hushtop with. We email your original key to that address again. Restore Purchase in Settings › License opens the same page.

If the email doesn’t arrive in a few minutes, check your spam folder and make sure you used the address from your purchase.

Hushtop Lite after the trial#

If the trial ends without a license, Hushtop keeps working as Hushtop Lite. These stay on:

  • The notch and music in its ears.
  • The Media player, and Now playing on Home.
  • The volume HUD and audio output.

Everything else pauses: the other tools, the pet, integrations, the Liquid Glass theme, Quit protection and Cleaning mode. A paused surface shows what it is and a Buy button. Activate a key and everything comes back.

Hushtop Lite doesn’t receive updates. A licensed Mac, or one still in its trial, does.

Updates#

A license includes every future update, for life. Hushtop checks once a day; to check now, open Settings › About and click Check for Updates….

Refunds#

You can get a refund within 14 days of purchase. See the refund policy. After a refund, the license stops working within a day and Hushtop goes back to Hushtop Lite.
